Spotting Two Weeks After Period: Ovulation Or Health Issue?

Spotting Two Weeks After Period: Causes

  1. Relatively harmless causes. You may be too sensitive to ovulation. Or you have recently gone through a stress / flight / change of climatic zone. Usage of oral contraception is also a frequent trigger for spotting in the middle of your cycle. The first 3 months since you have begun to take birth control pills, your organism is adjusting to this contraceptive method. If spotting continues after 3 months, the pills you are using are not suitable for you. Intrauterine spiral and vaginal ring may also cause spotting.
  2. Conception. Usually spotting after conception means implantation of the fertilized egg into the uterine lining, that occurs 3 weeks after period. But the earliest implantation may happen already on the 3rd day after ovulation, so it may be approximately 2 weeks after period, especially if ovulation in the current month has been early.
  3. Hormonal irregularities. This is one of the most frequent causes of spotting that occurs apart from period.
  4. Endometrium issues. Chronical endometritis, for instance, causes brownish spotting with unpleasant odor and lower abdominal aches. Spotting caused by endometriosis may be red, pink or brown without painful sensations or any specific accompanying symptoms. The same is applied to endometrium hyperplasia as well.
  5. Cervical erosion may develop asymptomatically, occasionally causing spotting usually after sex that can occur any time. However, if spotting starts after the 1-3rd sexual intercourse in your life, it is normal.
